5 DIY Lip Scrubs - Great Stocking Stuffers Christmas Presents

Watch the video here!

1
Cinnamon + Nutmeg
3 tbsp Brown Sugar
3 tbsp Olive Oil
2 drops Vitamin E oil
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Cinnamon

2
Honey + Vanilla
3 tbsp Brown Sugar
3 tbsp Olive Oil
2 drops Vitamin E oil
1/2 tbsp Honey
1 tsp Vanilla

3
Almond
3 tbsp White Sugar
3 tbsp Almond Oil
2 drops Vitamin E oil
1 tsp almond extract

4
Lemon
3 tbsp White Sugar
3 tbsp Olive Oil
2 drops Vitamin E oil
1 tsp lemon extract

5
Peppermint
3 tbsp White Sugar
3 tbsp Almond Oil (because it is lighter in color and will result in a more white finished scrub, catering to the peppermint name, olive oil makes it look more yellow)
2 drops Vitamin E oil
1 tsp peppermint flavor

The key is to use about equal parts oil to sugar.  You can always switch it up to get different consistencies of course.  This is just a super basic recipe and you can alter it in whatever way you like.  I just wanted to give you some different ideas for what you can add to a basic lip scrub to make it all little more festive or exciting.  I hope you enjoyed!

Nailtini Nail Polish Lacquer Review : Caviar Cocktail + Bloody Mary

BLOODY MARY
"Blood Mary" was a big disappointment as far as wear time goes.  I was wearing this polish for three days and on day three, I was at working, working as a cashier, not tearing up boxes or putting out product or doing anything that should have damaged my nails and all of a sudden I looked down at my nails and I had chips everywhere! (see pic below)  I was super disappointed.  "Bloody Mary" goes on pretty opaque and looks perfect in two coats, but obviously the wear time is pretty crappy.  And in my opinion, wear time is pretty much the #1 most important aspect of a polish.

CAVIAR COCKTAIL
I never noticed hardcore chipping with "Caviar Cocktail" but it did have significant wear on the tips after day 3.  It is less opaque than "Bloody Mary" and I do need to apply three coats to get it to pop like I want it to.  It can also be streaky at times, you really have to work with the brush a lot in order to get all of the streaks out.  I assume this is because it has a metallic finish, instead of a straight creamy color like "Bloody Mary."

I get these polishes in my Ipsy Glam Bags, but I would not purchase them on my own.  I hope this review was helpful and you enjoyed.

Lorac Rockin' Red Hot Pro Palette Set Review

I love love love this palette and have been using it every single day since I purchased it!  I am definitely one who appreciates great matte shadows incorporated in looks.  I think they really do a great job at creating dimension and depth to a look instead of using all shimmery shadows.  For that reason, I can see the genius in a half matte, half shimmer palette!

This particular set available at Ulta is definitely a great deal since the palette on its own is $42 and this kit with an eye primer and eyeliner is only $39!

I do not own any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes so I can't say if this is a better alternative or not.  I feel like the Naked palette can be lacking in mattes, so that's one plus side to this half and half palette.  However, I do really love this thing and get sooo much use out of it for both light airy day looks and also dark and sultry night looks.

White
is not completely matte.  It definitely has a very fine shimmer in it, but I don't find that it transfers too badly to the lid.  It is not the most pigmented white I own, but also not the worst by any means.
Cream
is so very similar to my skin tone that you can hardly see it in the swatches.  However I do enjoy using it as a browbone highlight, it works wonderfully for that.
Taupe
is a soft ashy light brown that is great for blending out crease shadows.  I could see this being a good shade for doing your eyebrows if the color suits you.
Light Pink
is a really great matte light pink that has great color pay off and I really enjoy using it as an all over lid shade.  No complaints about this one.
Mauve
is one of my very favorites in this palette.  Since it has a more mauvey-purpley tone, it's a little different than simply using a light brown in the crease.  I bet this will be one of the first I hit pan on.  I love it.
Sable
is a regular ole medium brown color, nothing special IMO.
Espresso
on the other hand is a really great dark dark brown.  It comes off much darker than it looks in the palette.  It has unbelievable color pay off, you really need to be careful with it sometimes.  It has so much depth, it really makes me avoid the black at times because it can bring just as much depth on its own.
Black
isn't the most pigmented black I've come across (Kat Von D's Lucifer is my favorite for sure!) but it isn't bad either.  Sometimes a little less pigmented black can be better so you don't end up going overboard as easily.

Nude
is a pretty champagne color with a satin sheen.
Champagne
on the other hand, is also a nice champagne color but it definitely has more chunky glitter in it.  It's slightly darker than Nude, but since it has chunks of glitter, it can be a little fallout crazy, so I avoid it and like to use Nude instead.
Gold
is a super pigmented, beautiful, buttery, creamy gold color.  The shimmers in this palette has terrific color payoff and texture overall, they are so splendid to use!
Light Bronze
is a light satin-y brown-bronze color.  I think it's the most "satin" finished of the shimmers in this palette.  It's a little strange to me because I have such light skin, it can look a little weird as an all-over lid shade because it isn't dark enough for a smokey look but it isn't light enough for the lid color I usually like for a day-time look (such as Nude).
Pewter
is another big favorite of mine.  It's a pretty brown-gray color that I find is awesome for a smokey look.  Once again, it is buttery and so nice to use.
Garnet
is a coppery color that is just beautiful, buttery, and gorgeous.
Deep Purple
is a beautiful purple.  It is very very dark, but still a gorgeous color.  I love purples.
Slate
is a deep charcoal gray that has a lot of dimension.  You could almost wear it as a one-shade look because of the way it appears as different light hits it.

The eye primer has been a favorite of mine lately.  I haven't had any issues with creasing, uneven shadow application, heavy fallout, or anything really.  I find that this primer works excellently with these shadows, although I have not used it with others enough to see if there is a difference with different brands.

The eyeliner is nice.  I find that it isn't as pigmented as possible.  It does take two swipes to get it to be totally black, but that's really not a big deal.  Since it is a little tiny brush, you can get very very fine lines with it, but that also bugs me sometimes because it can be a little unforgiving.  If you just barely touch a spot out of line, you'll end up screwing up the whole look.  The brush can seem a little too flimsy for this same reason too.

Overall, those darn shimmery shades are just so buttery!  They have wonderful texture, color payoff, and just everything!  Even though I like to think of myself as more a matte shadow girl, these shimmers really made me fall in love with this one!

DIY Lush Ultrabland Makeup Remover

I love Lush's Ultrabland, but I don't love the price as much. So after a few little experiments, checking out the ingredients on Lush' website, and reading a bit about other DIY beeswax stuff, I've figured out a concoction that I think is pretty similar to Ultrabland.

My review on Lush Ultrabland.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup beeswax
1/3 cup sweet almond oil
1/8 cup honey
1/8 cup rose water
1 tsp vitamin e oil

Review :: Flower Beauty Win Some Rouge Some Creme Blush CB3 Forget-Me-Not

This product claims to turn from a cream to a powder and honestly, I didn't believe that claim when I purchased it. However, once swatching it and using the product, I can see that this claim is true.

For this reason, you don't need to set this cream blush with a powder on top, it is great on its own.  It's not going to move around, once it's dry, it's good to go.

The product feels similar to NYX cream blushes straight out of the package and it blends nicely and sets similarly to ELF cream blushes.

These last all day and have very minimal fading on me, even with my oily skin.

These glide onto the skin, no tugging at all. They are super easy to work with and blend in beautifully.  They are not patchy whatsoever.

I think they are perfectly pigmented.  You don't need to dig at them to get some color payoff, but you also won't really over-do-it with this color in particular.  I find it to be a really nice natural pinky-peach flush.

Once again, I am impressed with this Flower Beauty product and would definitely recommend you check them out if you're looking for a cream blush.  I don't own many cream blushes because with my oily skin, I just despise piling on creamy products, they always make me feel gross.  The ELF studio cream blushes don't last very long on me, they fade in a couple hours, and the NYX cream blushes are too wet and sticky, they just never dry down for me, so this one here from Flower is truly awesome.

Review :: Flower Beauty Glow Baby Glow Blush Bronze Duo - BD3 Shimmering Goddess

These are so pigmented! You really need to be careful with them. This particular duo in Shimmering Goddess is the darkest of the bunch and I think would look absolutely gorgeous on darker skintones.

Since they are super pigmented, they are going to absolutely last you FOREVER!  A good deal for about $10, I must say. :)

The blush is matte and the bronzer seems to have a satin-like finish.  I have found that the bronzer can come off somewhat patchy, but I think it's totally workable as an all-over bronzer instead of using it in targeted places to specifically contour your cheeks.  I use it with a larger duo-fiber brush to warm up my complexion and it's just great.

Used together, these two products give a really natural sun-kissed glow to the skin, almost like you've truly been out in the sun and have a teeny tiny sunburn-look due to the dark pink/red color of the blush. (I realize that may sound super horrible to some of you, but that's just what it reminds me of!)

These last all day with great pigmentation and staying power.  I love that neither are shimmery, I prefer more matte cheek products day-to-day anyway.

However, I can see how some might find them to be overly-pigmented, but I think they are great and are a really unique addition to my collection!

Review :: Flower Beauty Shadow Play Eyeshadow Quad Palette - EQ3 Foxy Browns

Because of my love for Flower Beauty products, not because I need more eyeshadows, I decided to pick up an eyeshadow quad and I'm really glad I did.

This quad in 'Foxy Browns' is an excellent neutral palette.  The shadows have wonderful pigmentation and are so great to work with. I find that they blend well and all four work together so well.

I especially love the fact that this quad includes different finishes.  There is a matte dark brown, a shimmery pink, a shimmery brown, and a somewhat satin/metallic taupe.  Of all of these shadows, the taupe is probably the most disappointing, it just doesn't seem to transfer to the lid well, even with a base. It looks best when applied with the finger I've found. But all of the others are just great!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this palette and would urge you to check out other shadows from Flower Beauty. I really hope this line is successful because I can't wait to see how it expands and what new, awesome stuff Drew Barrymore throws our way.

Review :: Flower Beauty About Face Foundation - SF3

Picked this up because I am, well, obsessed with Flower Beauty.  I have loved pretty much every single item I have picked up from this line and every time I'm at Walmart, I just have to stop and stare. :)

This foundation will not last you all day perfectly, like others such as Revlon Colorstay, but we can't really compare everything to Colorstay all the time. It's awesome, everyone knows that.  Anyway, this foundation will last a good portion of the day but you can tell it starts to break down after about 6 hours and you will need to touch up with powder or at least blot.  I have oily skin so that can also be a big factor as well.

This foundation definitely needs to be set with powder, whether or not you are oily, it doesn't dry down, it stays wet-looking and -feeling on the skin.

They really cater towards the fair skinned ladies!  Usually, in most drugstore foundations I am the second lightest shade, but with this one I was third lightest! That may sound dumb to some, but if you have very fair skin and can't seem to find a good drugstore foundation, I would say at least go check these guys out.

Doesn't have a strong or bad scent.  It doesn't smell chemically like some foundations do.

About medium coverage.

Blends in easily and looks great.  Probably one of the most blendable foundations I've tried lately.  But it's not so blendable that it will disappear or totally blend away.  The consistency is a nice balance between thick and thin and I overall really enjoy applying this.  I find that some foundations are going to look their best using different methods such as your fingers, a sponge, or a brush.  With this foundation, I find that it looks great with all of these methods.  I try not to use it with my beauty blender because it is water-based and the beauty blender will just suck up so much of the product, I don't want to waste it.  I actually quite enjoy using my fingers to apply this foundation, which I normally don't like doing.

The finish can depend on what powder you use to set your foundation with, of course.  I use one of two powders to set this.  Milani Multitasking Face Powder for a little extra coverage days, or Neutrogena Shine Control Powder for any regular day.  I have found that the Neutrogena powder can look cakey on top of other foundations, but it looks fine with this one.

Overall, I enjoy this foundation for everyday use and I would definitely recommend it!

Thanks for reading!
I really hope this was helpful in some way for you guys!
Have you tried anything from Flower Beauty? What do you think?

Love,
Alaina
