Flower Beauty Nail'd It Nail Lacquer in NP6 "I Lavendare You" Review

After trying out the creme eyeshadow & mascara from the Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore line at Walmart and really loving those products, I finally gave in and picked up a couple other items.   Here is a short review on the nail polish.  The particular color I picked up is in "I Lavendare You!" and it's a gorgeous pastel lavender purple with teeny tiny little cool toned shimmers in it (in different lighting they look silver, blue, pink, purple).  It stood out to me because I don't own any light purple polishes & I felt like it would be a wonderful spring color, but the other colors in the line are gorgeous choices as well.
Dry Time - 4/5 - Dry time is one of the biggest issues I like to know about a nail polish because I am A) not super awesome at painting my nails & B) not very patient about it either.  I hate that because of my lack of patience, I could spend forever doing my nails and making them pretty, then totally have them ruined because I just can't sit still to let them dry for an hour.  They didn't dry crazy fast like by the time you're done with your second hand, the first is all set to go, but they did dry more quickly than some other polishes I typically use (ex: Wet n Wild Megalast & Sinful Colors).

Formula - 4/5 - This polish is a pretty thick consistency which makes it kind of difficult to work with in my opinion.  You may really like using thick polishes, but I find it a little difficult to keep the nail nice and neat when the formula is too thick.
Color Payoff - 5/5 - Although with the first layer, this polish came off sheer, it wasn't splotchy or streaky and still looked gorgeous.  It could totally be worn with one layer just to give a bit of color to the nails, but I chose to pile on 3 layers just to see what it would take to make them opaque.  In my opinion, this is the perfect polish as far as color is concerned.  It can be worn sheer and still looks beautiful, or you can layer it up and it's an awesome opaque color.  I usually do 3 layers of any polish anyway, so I don't find it to be an issue.
(apologies for the dry cuticles)
Wear - 4.5/5  - I used no base coat or top coat for this little beauty experiment, just so I could see what the real wear of the genuine product was like.  After the first day I did notice the tiniest bit of wear on the very edges of my nails, but it wasn't a huge deal and they stayed in relatively the same condition the entire time I kept the polish on.  I had no chipping or peeling either.  I won't give it a 5 because they did not stay absolutely perfect, but they still wore very very well and I was pretty impressed, especially without the use of a base or top coat.
I don't really work with my hands or anything, I think the wear I put on my nails is pretty typical.  I use them to pick and scratch and tap and whatnot, but it's not like I garden or work in the food industry and have to wash my hands a hundred times a day or anything like that.
This nail polish was under $5 at Walmart, $4.97 or so. I really hope this helped and maybe gave you some idea of the quality of these polishes.

Beauty Things I Suck At Tag!

Here's my "Beauty Things I Suck At Tag" & I hope you enjoy! :)
Let me know if there are any other tag videos you would like me to do because they are lots of fun to film, especially now that it's getting nicer outside, you guys know I love filming outdoors. lol. :)

First of all, I suck at doing my eyebrows super well.  They are so inconsistent.  Maybe once a week I will get them perfect just the way I like them, but every other day I am disappointed with the tail ends.  I can never seem to get them straight and there isn't a lot of hair on the ends to help me out. lol.  I can get the perfect arch and the perfect inside half but as soon as I try to do the tail, they're just ruined.

Secondly, I am really bad at pretty much everything that has to do with my finger nails.  I am not careful or patient enough to paint them neatly, I don't keep them all the same length, I just kind of let them do what they want, I pick at my nail polish once I get the tiniest chip, and I also pick at the cuticles and the skin around my nails.  It's horrible and I hate it but I've just never been able to take good care of them, at least I quit biting them. lol.

Thirdly, mascara on the lower lash line is just a ridiculous problem of mine.  No matter what I do, I always get mascara there! I need thicker lower lashes so the brush bristles don't touch the skin, I think that's the problem :-p

Lastly, I pop my zits.  I think we can leave it at that.

What's to come...?

Here are just a few videos I have edited and ready to go as of right now.  And next week is spring break, so hopefully I can get some more filmed and edited and ready.  But I know I'm gonna get stuck spending much of spring break writing papers and whatnot.  As I've said a million times, this semester is totally killing me.

Outfit of the day filmed today with all of our pretty snowfall! We got a foot of snow yesterday (the most I think I've ever seen) and I had to get one last winter outfit filmed, even though I'm sure everyone is tired of the snowy backgrounds.  I just love them, it's so pristine and just absolutely gorgeous.  However, I'm ready for spring and filming in warmer weather. :)

I know this was on my last "what's to come" post, but I just never got around to getting it up.  I try to avoid doing too many tutorials every single week all in a row, so I thought I would put some different videos in between before I got to this one.

A more spring appropriate outfit filmed Saturday when it was relatively nice out.  Of course, we had one day of pretty good weather and the very next day, we got a foot of snow. Doesn't it always seem to work out like that?  You think winter is done for, then she just comes back with a big surprise. :)

A bright colorful makeup tutorial I figured would be more fun.  I generally like wearing more colorful makeup looks, but just haven't had the opportunity to play around too much lately.  It takes a lot more time to film and edit a cool tutorial like this one. lol.  But I do hope to put up more tutorials like this.  I usually enjoy watching these dramatic looks rather than your everyday neutral looks in my opinion anyway.

But speaking of neutral everyday looks, I filmed this video here.  This is just how I do a typical easy brown smoky eye.  I tried to film this as a GRWM but the full face routine didn't quiet turn out the way I wanted it to, so the only decent footage was of the eye makeup part, so I salvaged that.  I hate filming and just having to toss it all out if it doesn't turn out right so I'm glad I at least got to save a bit of this one.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful first week of spring, even though I know at least here in America, a lot of the country just got pounded with snow, but spring is on its way, don't worry! :)

Spring Lookbook With My Sister

Here is a small spring lookbook featuring both myself and my sister Ryann, filmed in Forest Park St. Louis MO.  Forest Park is a good 30 minute drive from where we live, but we didn't make the trip just to film.  Ry and I were down at the Missouri Historical Society Research Library, I was doing some research on a topic for a gigantic paper for a class and Ry was just looking at stuff for fun.  (we're both history/education majors essentially)  So we figured while we were down in the city, why not film?
It still looks like wintertime here in the St. Louis area, but this particular day was super nice out.  Of course, that means the park was packed!  We would have loved to film at the Art Museum or the Worlds Fair Pavillion, but there were just so many people, we couldn't have gotten any shots without other people in them.  Also, we've never really filmed around a ton of people, so we were kinda shy about it too. :-p
Anyway, I hope you enjoy, at least it's a little change of scenery, but I sure hope one day we can get a video with plenty of shots with the beautiful architecture down there.

Royal Purple Makeup Tutorial - ft. Flower Beauty

Watch the video here!

This is just a simple purple eyeshadow look I created one day when I wanted to mess around with the new Flower Beauty Creme Eyeshadow as a base for my look.  Ever since I got this creme shadow, I always want to wear a purple eye look everyday just so I can use it as a base.  It's such a cool textured product, I can't get over it just yet. Lol. Anyway, I just threw together some purples and even a fun purple liner so I could use my creme shadow product from Flower.  I hope you enjoy and please let me know what other looks you may be interested in.  Don't forget to check out the youtube video too!

This was a requested video on youtube. I typically don't wear socks with tights, but I really enjoyed thinking about different pairings and actually really love the way these outfits turned out.  I think the horizontally striped socks, paired with the ankle strap on the heels in outfit 1 looked super adorable.  Outfit 2 was really comfy and casual, and outfit 3 mixes up a preppy feel with a hippie feel, making for quite the interesting combination lol.  I just wanted to say, wearing heels with socks sure make them more comfortable lol.

St. Patrick's Day Makeup Tutorial

Watch the video here!
This is just a fun St. Patrick's Day inspired look using pretty much just different shades of greens.  Sometimes greens can be a funky color to figure out for eyeshadow, so the best time to play around with them is when creating a look for a St. Patrick's Day celebration.  Holiday inspired looks can always be toned down or spruced up to be really exciting.  I think this one is pretty wearable, in my opinion, and a nice balance between a regular neutral eye and a really crazy holiday-inspired look.  I hope you enjoy these pics and don't forget to check out the video!

What's to come?

Here are just a few videos I have filmed and pretty much ready to go. (in no particular order)
I have been falling behind on my OOTDs, usually I have about 2-3 saved up and ready to go, but this is all I have, and no OOTDs! lol. But this weekend is supposed to be warmer so I hope to get some outdoor filming done. :)
A pretty simple, shimmery warm eye with deep cheeks, and my recent obsession: an ombre lip. :)

I am still waiting for a nice sunny day to get some shots of what these lenses look like in natural daylight, then it will be complete and ready to upload.

This one is using the new Flower Beauty creme eyeshadow as a base and my current favorite purple shadow; one from the Coastal Scents Moscow Go Palette. (If you haven't checked out Coastal Scents, they are excellently priced and all I've ever purchased has been wonderful)

Just an easy, wearable (imo) St. Patrick's Day look I figured would be a nice balance between a typical neutral eye and a crazy all-out holiday look.  Using the Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette once again; I love that palette.

This was filmed in my backyard.  Most of my videos are either filmed there or at Justin's house.  Justin is my boyfriend of 3+ years in case anyone was wondering.  He always helps me film and occasionally does a piece of editing for me (like anytime there is a shot where there is more than one of me, he did that).
I am really feeling like I am ready for Spring to come even though I will miss the Winter of course, I just love the snow, it's so beautiful; I could do without all these cold, windy days though.  So this outfit is me trying to transition from Winter into Spring.  The pop of color with the red tights, earrings, and lipstick all remind me that even though all the trees are barren and snow is still all over the ground, the Spring is coming and color will be back in nature soon enough.  The boots (which I wear way too much, I'll admit) along with the shorts shows the transition from Winter into Spring as well.  If I had some knee high white socks, I totally would have worn those just to tie in the white of my earrings and tank top with the bottom half of my outfit, but I didn't have any and my sister didn't have any I could borrow either.  I wasn't about to go out and buy some just for the OOTD, sorry, but I think it really would have added a little extra something to the outfit.

Watch the video here!
I was just messing around and checking out my Coastal Scents 252 Palette.  Sometimes I will just stare at it and see what colors pop out at me.  This isn't a super colorful crazy look or anything, but it could work for upcoming St. Patrick's Day if you like to do the whole holiday inspired makeup deals, which I love to do.  I hope you like because I just love doing something colorful with my eye makeup as much as possible.  Let me know what color combinations or looks you would like to see recreated.  Looking at these flash photos makes me wish I had added some liner! Grr... Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post, pictures, and don't forget to check out the youtube video!

My Favorite Spring/Summer Lip Products

Hey everyone! These are just some of my favorite lip products for the Spring and Summer, but honestly, I wear different colored lipsticks all year round.  Don't forget to check out the youtube video here with live swatches and more information.

Right to Left: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in Darling, Lovesick, Precious, Charm, & Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch

Right to Left: Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks in Enchantress, Hot Passion, Covergirl Outlast Lip Color in Ever Red-dy, Loreal Infallible Lip Color in Beyonce's Red, NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Dolly Girl, & Revlon Lip Butter in Cupcake

Love love love these. My favorite lipsticks at the moment.  They don't dry out my lips like crazy and they also leave a stain behind which is just awesome!

Note: The Covergirl one tends to need an extra coat compared to the Loreal one, but to me it isn't a big deal because in the end they both perform pretty much the same and stay on all day.

In the video, it looked like the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream was coming off with a little bit of sheerness, but it must have just been laying funny and the product shifted in the tube because it is usually just as pigmented and strong as the Loreal Infallible was.  Also, my Revlon Lip Butter is really running out. Lol. This pic is all the product I have left.

The Baby Lips are not as moisturizing as a typical lip balm, but the color in this particular one is a great one to just throw on and carry in your purse.  Burt's Bees is my favorite lip balm and has been for quite some time.  I love the minty feel of it and it's just the best.

I love these too! They have a minty feeling similar to Burt's Bees, they leave a really good stain (the two bright ones at least), and are really moisturizing, not drying at all.

What's on my nails in the video?
